Kongsberg jazz festival 05-08 July

Second time i visit Kongsberg Jazz festival, second time all expectations were fullfilled: great gigs, nice and warm weather, some nice food, got new friends :-)

My favourite concerts were:

- Globe Unity Orchestra (Energimølla)
- Michiyo Yagi, Peter Brötzmann and Paal Nilssen-Love (AvantHagen)
- Han Bennink solo (art exhibition room)
- Peter Brötzmann & Han Bennink (Byorkesterets hus)
- Fred Frith solo (Byorkesterets hus)
- ATOMIC (Energimølla)
- Håvard Wiik, Ingebrigt Håker Flaten, Paal Nilssen-Love and Petter Wettre in a tribute to John Coltrane (Mr. Wettre got his ass properly kicked here, hehe) (Kongsbergshallen)
- Paul Lytton & Paul Lovens (AvantHagen)

I was amazed by the Globe Unity Orchestra gig. Like one of my friends said after the gig: those guys look like a bunch of retired people who are cruising around in Norway in one of these big tourist bus to take pictures, and they just kicked our arses COMPLETELY!!!

Kongsberg is a really nice jazz festival. All the venues are small/medium size (except the sports hall which is bigger with high stage and of course bigger PA), which makes it possible to sit right in front of the musicians and not miss a single bit of what they are playing... Han Bennink threw his broken drumstick at me and when i said "AU!!!", he looked at me like he was going to throw _something_ else!
